PLUMBING WORKER

Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PLUMBING WORKER ~ without more than normal supervision. performing common plumbing repairs and installation- piping, fitting, or fixtures for defective parts or connections or leaks. Assist with replacement or repairs of various plumbing fixtures or pipes using hand tools such as rulers, saws and pipe wrenches. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort -The employee makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and where the parts or systems worked on are in hard to reach places. The incumbent stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Employee frequently, unassisted, lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds; and occasionally lifts or moves heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Working Conditions - The employee works in cramped quarters both in and out of doors where there is exposure to mud, dirt, dust, grease, bad weather, bad smelling fumes, etc. The employee will occasionally be required to wear a respirator to perform needed work. There is occasional exposure to the possibility of broken bones and regular exposure to the possibility of scrapes, bruises, burns from caustic soda and hot lead, injury from the use of power and hand tools, and infection from working at unsanitary work sites.
