Empowering.<br><br>BAE Systems is currently searching for an experienced Safety Manager to support our Jacksonville Maritime Solutions facility. In this role as a Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of direct and indirect reports including Safety Specialists, Safety Techs, Competent Persons, and Administrative staff that support the safe execution of shipyard repair and production activities in accordance with the corporate safety policy and all federal, state, and local regulations. You will also develop working partnerships across the organization that promote a positive, pro-active approach to ensuring worker health and safety; create and maintain an effective method for review of work processes to ensure a robust approach to hazard identification, risk assessment and the implementation of operational controls; and establish and maintain the infrastructure and organization necessary to consistently deliver industry leading Safety and Health performance.<br><br>Other responsibilities will include:</span></span><ul><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, consensus standards, and customer requirements.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Conduct Incident Investigations. Train Safety Staff in Incident Investigation and personally engage management with the investigation process. Make recommendations for process improvement and hazard mitigation.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Arrange for robust safety inspections across the facility. Train in inspection methods and provide personal oversight of these inspections.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Ensure adequate risk assessment, hazard analysis and determination of controls of work processes throughout the facility. Train employees in risk assessment, root cause analysis, hazard analysis, and elimination / mitigation measures.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Provide project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirm project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Schedule, conduct, and oversee occupational safety and health training. Ensure all employees are appropriately trained in safety practice and protocol commensurate with the requirements of their position.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Provide subject matter expertise and consultation necessary to advance the safety culture of the organization.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Review and update Safety and Occupational Health policies and procedures, ensuring they are accurate, current, and reflect the latest Regulatory, Industry, and Company standards and requirements. (Gas Free, Industrial Hygiene, OSHA, SHE Assurance).</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Create an environment of actively engaged partnering, coaching, directing, and when necessary, enforcement of company and regulatory requirements.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Based on injury data analysis, employee interviews, risk assessments, past incidents, and near misses, etc., lead proactive projects that reduce risk.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Report the status of metrics and performance to business and market leaders.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Responsible for maintaining external certification programs, specifically OSHA VPP Star and ISO:45001.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Participate in industry organizations.</span></span></li></ul><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Physical Requirements: This role requires regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. The incumbent must be able to access and safely navigate production areas which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. Must also be able to comply with all requirements including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.<br><br>In addition, the Safety Manager's overall objectives and goals include:</span></span><ul><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Proactive, timely, monitoring and reporting metric KPIs and Metrics.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Proactive engagement with workforce compliance business partners (Facilities, Production, etc.) to find solutions to compliance gaps.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Budget monitoring and compliance</span></span></li></ul></br></br><b>Required Education, Experience, & Skills </b></br><ul><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Safety, Health, Environmental, or Engineering discipline, and eight (8) years of related experience, or the overall equivalent experience.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Proficient in OSHA regulations, consensus standards.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Capable of recognizing risks and hazards associated with shipyard activities. </span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Requires use of conceptual and innovative thinking, specifically for identifying solutions.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Exceptional communication skills to exchange complex information.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Training experience. </span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Basic knowledge of industrial hygiene (IH) principles.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Experienced people manager. Position oversees both direct reports and indirect reports. Ability to lead, mentor, train, and develop personnel across shifts.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Computer skills to include MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Familiarity with project and department budget tools.</span></span></li></ul></br></br><b>Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills </b></br><ul><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Experience working in manufacturing or a shipyard environment.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Familiarity with NAVSEA standards.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or in the process of obtaining.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Maritime Safety and Industry Standards plus familiarity with 29 CFR Part 1915 highly desirable.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Familiarity with the concepts of Serious Injury and Fatality programs.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Knowledgeable in Safety and Health management systems such as ISO 45001.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;">Root cause analysis software experience.</span></span></li></ul><br><br><b>Pay Information</b><br>Full-Time Salary Range: $107952 - $183518<br><br>Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
